Why has online shopping increased?

Online shopping has boomed in the last two years, not only because of the pandemic but also because the former also provides a lot of perks. You can shop in the comfort of your bed and schedule your delivery; on top of that, and you can also get more information about the product you are buying and have a more personalized shopping experience. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you have at least bought one thing online. According to predictions by economists, by 2023, eCommerce sales are expected to surpass 740 billion dollars. There are many factors that resulted in the popularity of online shopping, such as:

    • Change in shopping behavior with the newer generations- Baby Boomers to Millennials to Gen Z
    • Online marketplace
    • Social media and social commerce
    • The increase of use of smart devices and mobile shopping
    • Transformative technology

Some numbers about online shopping that you ought to know are that in 2021, the number of digital buyers will be at 2.14 billion, and that’s 27.6% of the world’s population. There have been over 230 million online shoppers in the US only, and this is a 1.32% increase from 2020. This is in addition to the previous perks we mentioned about online shopping before.

How to save money while doing your online shopping?

There are many ways to save money while you are shopping online, and you just have to be smart about it and one way to do so is by knowing where to search and wait. To save money while online shopping, one thing you need is patience, and this is one thing that I struggle with. So, here are so way on how to save money during online shopping:

1. Put items in your card and wait

This is an excellent way to not over-shop, and this will make you think if you really need everything in your cart or not. Not only that, some brands will sometimes even send you emails to encourage you to proceed with your purchase with the items in your cart, and these mails are often accompanied with coupons, and this will save you money on top of using additional coupons or an app or chrome extension like Honey. Be sure to enter your email address correctly though, this is one way for brands to communicate to you, but the chances are 50/50 when it comes to receiving an email from the brand. Though, it is worth noting that you’ll have to wait for a couple of days to get the said email. So, the waiting is the name of the game when it comes to online shopping.

2. Use cashback websites

Cash-backs sites at times sound too good to be true, and most people are wary of trusting them, but trust me on this one, they work. Check out Checkout51, which will give you a cashback on all your online purchases, and you can get anywhere from 1 to 8% cashback on your purchase. These cashback apps allow you to save money on sites that you usually use to buy or shop, like Shoppers Drug Mart or even Amazon. How to get started? Go on the cashback website that you want; we recommend Checkout51; you just have to make an account and start shopping. Ta-dah, you can get money on your online shopping.
