The Best Jobs You Can Have as a College Student

college

Your earlier 20s is the time when you must have a plethora of jobs so that you know what types of jobs fit your fancy and what you love and don’t love to do. It is the time of your life when you can have more than one job at a time, and this will be one of the most formative times of your life because it will help you choose a future career.

It is also the time for you to try things you don’t necessarily like and go outside the box because you never know what kind of job you’ll like or hate. So, come along with us and learn about some of the highest-paying jobs you can have as a college student.

Editor or proofreader

correcting-

You can make bank by proofreading student papers, and this comes from experience. I am a recent college graduate and have an English Degree, and when I tell you if you are good with languages, you can make bank proofreading essays.

Writing can be difficult for many people, and if you are actively pursuing an English degree, then it is your craft to write well, which can and will come in handy in college. It is among one of the highest paying jobs you can have, and if you are a fast reader and editor, then I swear you’ll make bank.

Also, don’t have a fixed amount, charge according to word count because a 3000 words essay and a dissertation aren’t the same, and the latter is a behemoth to read and correct. You also have to restrict yourself to college students, and you’ll find a plethora of job openings for freelance proofreaders or editors.

Pet sitter

dogs

If you live in a big city like New York or L.A, then trust me when I say that you can make a lot of money as a pet sitter, more so than babysitting. So people charge up to $40 for a pet sitter, and on average, you’ll have 5 to 6 dogs at a time and is a very lucrative job and is an easy way to make money.

If you love pets and have two to free hours free a day, then you can always take up pet sitters gigs, and you’ll just have to work the dog for two hours and play with them, And, voila, you are making bank, and this is a fantastic way to make easy money.

This is not only an excellent way to make a living, but you also get to stay in shape and play with pets. This is a win-win situation if you ask me, and if you live in a college dorm, you can’t own an animal, which is the best alternative to playing with animals.

Tutor

tutor

If you are opting for a future career as a teacher, then tutoring is meant for you. You can make anywhere from 30 to 85 dollars an hour, and it is one of the most lucrative jobs out there. Now, just because someone is book smart doesn’t make them a good tutor.

To be a good tutor, you need to be well versed in your subject. Personally, I would teach English to international students and would also tutor for queer and woman studies. You should also find ways to advertise your skills, and one of the best ways to showcase this is to show your grades, especially if you are an A and A+ student. You can put signposts around campus to advertise your skills and even put them on social media.

Writer

work-

If you are a good writer, love writing, and have a blog on the side, then you can make good money working as a freelance writer. You can earn a lot of money freelancing for a magazine, and this is an excellent add-on to your resume because knowing how to write and speak are two different things.

Being a good writer is key if you want a future career in academia or even as a full-fledged writer or journalist. You also learn a lot of things along the way, like how to work under pressure and under a time crunch. However, it can be really stressful and time-consuming because writing takes time, and being a freelance means that you are self-employed and you are your own boss.

It also means that if you don’t make enough money, it is your fault and no one else’s. Talking from personal experience, as a full-time freelance writer, you can earn $1 for every word you write and can earn 600 to 1000 dollars per magazine article; this, of course, depends on who you are writing for.

Trust me when I tell you I had and did every single one of these jobs at one point or another when I was in college, and they are a good way to earn a living and to pay off that pesky student loan that most of us have to take out even if we have a scholarship or two. Sound off in the comments section below and tell us some of the jobs you had when you were in college.
